Reservations & Booking
Do I need to make a reservation?
We highly recommend making reservations in advance, especially during July and August when availability is limited. Walk-up rentals are welcome when equipment is available, but booking ahead is the best way to guarantee your preferred rental and time.
How do I reserve a rental?
Reservations can be made quickly and easily through our online booking system. If you have questions or would rather book by phone, give us a call at (231) 929-3303 and our team will be happy to help.
Is a deposit required?
Yes. A deposit is required to secure your reservation. The remaining balance will be due at the time of your rental.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards.
Jet Ski Rentals
How old do I have to be to rent a jet ski?
You must be 18 years or older to rent or operate a jet ski.
Do I need a boating license?
Michigan law requires anyone born after June 30, 1996 to possess a valid Michigan Boater Safety Certificate to operate a personal watercraft. If you don't already have one, our staff can help guide you through the process before your rental.
Can two people ride on one jet ski?
Yes! Our Yamaha WaveRunners are designed to accommodate up to two riders, making them perfect for couples, friends, or families.
Are life jackets included?
Absolutely. Every rental includes U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets and all required safety equipment at no additional charge.
Is fuel included?
Yes! Fuel is included with all of our motorized rentals, so there are no surprise fuel charges when you return.
Pontoon Rentals
How many people fit on a pontoon boat?
Our pontoon boats accommodate up to 10–12 passengers, depending on the model you reserve.
Can I bring food and drinks?
Yes! Feel free to bring snacks, drinks, and a cooler to enjoy your day on the water. We simply ask that you help us keep the boats clean by removing all trash when your rental is complete.
Can I swim from the pontoon?
Absolutely! East Grand Traverse Bay offers beautiful clear water that's perfect for swimming. Please anchor safely away from boating traffic before entering the water.
Do you deliver pontoon boats?
Yes! We offer pontoon delivery to many Northern Michigan lakes. In many cases, we'll deliver the boat directly to your dock at no additional delivery charge. Give us a call to see if we service your lake.
Kayaks & Paddleboards
Do I need experience?
Not at all! Kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are great for beginners. Our friendly staff will provide basic instructions and safety tips before you head out.
Are paddleboards difficult to learn?
Most first-time paddlers are surprised by how quickly they get comfortable. Calm mornings are especially ideal for beginners.

What happens if the weather changes?
Your safety is always our top priority. If severe weather affects your reservation, we'll work with you to reschedule whenever possible.

Yes! Free parking is available for all Break'N Waves customers.
Are pets allowed?
To help keep our boats clean, safe, and enjoyable for all guests, pets are not permitted on any of our rental equipment, including pontoon boats, jet skis, kayaks, paddleboards, and paddle boats. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to make arrangements for your furry family members before your day on the water.
What should I wear?
Dress comfortably for the weather and expect to get a little wet! We recommend swimwear, comfortable clothing, non-slip footwear, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
